Action:
Repeal current regulations and promulgate new regulations
Action 478
General Information
Action Summary |
The "approved program" process refers to the policies and procedures by which the Virginia Department of Education reviews a professional education program at a college or university to determine if it meets the state's standards for the preparation of school personnel. The revision is intended to ensure that colleges and universities offer professional education programs that are aligned with the competencies contained in the Licensure Regulations for School Personnel. Achievement of approved program status assures that the college or university program is aligned with the licensure competencies and the K-12 student standards. The procedures for the review of each endorsement program center on the competencies set forth by the Licensure Regulations for School Personnel (8 VAC 20-21-10 et. seq.) and require evidence of how the institution demonstrates that the competencies are met. |
