Description of Proposed Guidance Document Changes
An assessment using the Uniform Assessment Instrument (UAI) is required for all individuals upon admission to an assisted living facility (ALF) and at certain intervals. (See ยง63.2-1804 of the Code of Virginia) The Private Pay Assessment Manual builds upon regulations found in 22VAC30-110 and provides guidance to certain staff at private pay ALFs regarding the assessment of individuals applying to reside in or living in an ALF. The Private Pay UAI is an alternate version of the full, UAI and contains only the information necessary to determine whether a private pay individual meets the level of care criteria for residential or assisted living level of care. The proposed changes to the Private Pay Assessment Manual are clarifying in nature, concerning when an assessment is required and which agency is responsible for relocating private pay residents when necessary. Other updates are grammatical to improve comprehension.
