I have been told that the background for this change is to make all the boards consistent with their renewals. While I can understand wanting to have all the boards be consistent, my main concern would be adding expenses (mailings, administrative time, etc.) with doing an annual renewal. If, in fact, there are increased expenses, maybe all the boards should go to every two years to help reduce costs and time expenditures. Increasing our fees is like adding a tax to us. This makes it hard for some of us who are in private practice, running a small business in a challenging economy. It seems there should be more focus on creative ways to reduce our expenses and not add to them.
