I am writing to urge the Board to continue licensure for Landscape Architects in Virginia. Landscape architects are called upon for complex services that require highly technical skills, particularly in a vastly changing world impacted by climate change. Licensure of landscape architects is necessary to keep the profession on an equal footing with its related licensed design professions of architecture and engineering. Without licensure, landscape architects will be unfairly disadvantaged and untrained individuals will be allowed to engage in professional practice that could significantly impact both the public and our environment.
