I say "yes" to allowing concealed carry in VA State parks. State parks are no different than any other place in the Commonwealth. If a law abiding citizen has gone through the rigors and background checks to obtain a concealed carry permit, why should they not be able to carry concealed in a State park? The size of State parks and the rather isolated nature of many makes it difficult for law enforcement to offer the same sort of quick response to violent crimes that VA citizens enjoy in an urban setting. I think that it is more important that lawful carry permit holders be allowed to carry their firearms in State parks to protect themselves, their families, and other citizens in the case of assault/threat by criminals.
Concerning open carry, I support open carry for hunters during hunting season. I do have reservations of someone branishing a rifle, shotgun, or other long gun when there are no open hunting seasons. I support the concept of the open carrier iwhen engaged in lawful sport shooting (eg. target shooting or skeet shooting where legal).
