It is good for people OTHER than just criminals to have knowledge and access to firearms. In the public woodlands, there is too much crime now and too few law enforcement officers in the huge territory to protect all visitors properly. I want the ability to protect myself and my family --plus it is my natural right. The anti-gun restrictions on law-abiding civilians are UNLAWFUL. Even in a city where cel phone reception is good, it can take a long time for police to arrive. In wild areas with spotty coverage and where locating victims can be tricky, response is even worse. "When seconds count, the police are only minutes away." I detest the stressful choice your unlawful regulations force me into: be better protected --or risk arrest on a weapons charge. That's just wrong.
