Dear Members of the Board of Veterinary Medicine:
The issue is quite clear. If you, or a member of your (human) family went to a hospital emergency departtment with a medical condition, would you be satisfied being treated by a first year medical student? If your answer is yes, then you are understandably satisfied with what happens to animal patients in Virginia.
If however, your answer is NO (as I expect it is), then you need to change the process by which veterinary students are allowed to practice on animal patients without clear consent of the owners of the animals
All the rest of the argument in favor of veterinary students providing such care is inexusable nonsense.
Sincerely,
Sidney L. Delson, FAIA Emeritus
