Common courtesy should dictate that when student(s) are involved in any type of veterinary care, owner consent must be required, and that supervision by a licensed veterinarian is necessary. While hands on experience maybe an excellent educational tool for a student, it must be realized that students haven't yet had sufficient practice to give unsupervised medical diagnosis or do medical procedures.
