While I agree that the sole purpose of the photo ID is to allow the Officer of Electiuon to know that the person checking in is the registered voter I am troubled by the argument that the expiration date of (eg. drivers license) us not to be aken into account in determing 'valid'. I am quite certain that presenting an expired drivers license to a state trooper will get me a summons for driving on an expired (thus invalid) license. All the advertising says the ID is to be a valid ID and I argue that the DMV defintion is the determinant of the validity of a drivers license.
I believe that we must be willing to issue a photo ID to any registerd voter in our jurisdiction who asks.
