It is ridiculous to think that an inmate has any kind of normal strength during and just after her labor and delivery. Was this rule instituted by men, who have never given birth? Or was it perhaps instituted to make a guard's life easier? Please use your common sense and stop shackling these inmates during the above-mentioned time period. This is the twenty-first century. There are better and more humane ways to make sure that inmates don't escape.
