I live in Stafford, VA and I staunchly oppose Action 4905.

I moved to Virginia from Florida in large part because Virginia was a more inclusive, accepting, and empathetic place. The Virginia Values Act was a significant factor in the decision to call Virginia home. This action directly contradicts the values the people of this state have stood for and continue to fight for today. It does not represent the will and interests of the people of this state.

Action 4905 would not and cannot improve the health or safety of the people of this state. This proposition seeks only to promote discrimination.  It is a product of prejudice and hate, not one of science and understanding. It can and would result in more harassment and violence against women, both trans and not. It would enable, whether intended or not, citizen policing of gender presentation in public spaces.

Trans people already face enough adversity and are significantly more likely to be the victims of, not the perpetuators, of violence. Trans people, like all people, deserve equality and respect.
