I live in the City of Alexandriaand I oppose Action 4905.

The Board of Health has no business labeling groups of people harmful based on who they are.

There are real public health issues facing women and girls in Virginia, like violence, economic hardship, and reproductive health access. Don’t let this hateful petition distract from your important mission to protect the health and promote the well-being of ALL people in Virginia.

As we have seen across the country, these actions harm trans people by making their daily lives dangerous and signal to the public that targeting people based on their appearance is supported by the state. Even if one admits that the purpose of these actions was always to harm trans people, the actual results are also normal by cis people. This action is an invitation for the public to confront anyone they judge as not meeting arbitrary gender norms. Often those attacked sure to actions such as this weren't even trans anyway.

Please don't support this idiocy and actually work on public health instead.
