I live in Fauquier County, Virginia, and I oppose Action 4905. My opposition is based on the belief that the Board of Health has no business labeling groups of people harmful based on who they are. This is an overreach of their authority and should not move forward.

There are real public health issues facing women and girls in Virginia, like domestic violence, maternal health, and poverty. Don’t let this hateful petition distract from your important mission to protect the health and promote the well-being of ALL people in Virginia. Having trans people in sports is not the big issue that the media would have you believe. Each individual joining a team should be allowed to choose the team best suited for them.

We've always had larger kids tower over the smaller kids of the same age - why not focus on weight/size classifications for sports? We have kids who are large/heavy for their age and other kids who are small/lightweight. The coaches and staff have to train the kids to adjust accordingly, whether it's football, volleyball, basketball, martial arts, etc. That is part of good teamwork and sportsmanship.

Across our races, backgrounds, and genders, we all deserve to be treated fairly. Please do not continue this Action 4905, as it will unfairly target trans people. This proposed regulation has nothing to do with the health of Virginians and everything to do with discrimination. No one should face discrimination because of who they are. Trans people have always been here, and always will be. Trans people cannot and will not be erased.
