HB909/SB488 (2024)

The implementation of the LRI guardrails has significantly increased the stress and anxiety for families who are already facing daily struggles. In our case, my wife was compelled to leave her job to ensure that our daughter, who has special needs, received the care she requires. This was made feasible by the ability for her to be a paid caregiver.

It is crucial that we be allowed to make this decision without the constraints imposed by current guardrails. There are already sufficient safeguards in place to prevent misuse, and these additional restrictions only complicate the process of determining what is best for our family. We strongly advocate for the option to maintain paid LRI caregiving as a permanent and flexible solution, without undue bureaucratic limitations.
