8VAC20-781-490 D b. Requiring washing hands prior to changing a diaper is a waste of time and energy if the teacher wears new disposable gloves for each diaper change.
*Until an infant is old enough to be safely raised to the sink and reach for the water, the infant's hands may be washed using disposable wipes. ** This is a much safer requirement. Lifting babies to wash their hands at the sink can be VERY dangerous no matter their size. Until they can wash their hands on their own, a wipe should be considered acceptable.
8VAC20-781-320 - Documenting tummy time can be challenging the way it reads - tummy time isn;t happening all in one 30 min time frame. The infant staff already have so much to record which already takes time away from the babies, so I think that the tummy time record is one that we could eliminate and instead be listed under the Daily Care and Activities for Infants.
Medications being able to be authorized longer than a year by a physician is really helpful for those long-standing meds, reducing paperwork, doctor visits, and administrative burden. 8VAC20-781-520 H
It’s helpful to allow kindergarten and above children to use their own topical products so that children can learn about and participate in their care. 8VAC20-781-580 C
