Purpose of the meeting MEETING: TMDL Community Engagement Meeting - Watershed Cleanup Study for Benthic Impairments on Deep Run, Dover Creek, and Upham Brook Watersheds in Henrico and Goochland Counties and the City of Richmond DATE/TIME: February 29, 2024, at 2:00 p.m.* LOCATION: Virginia Department of Environmental Quality - Piedmont Regional Office Training Room, 4949-A Cox Road, Glen Allen, VA 23060 PURPOSE OF THE MEETING: The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) will host the Second TMDL Community Engagement Meeting for the Benthic TMDL Study on Deep Run, Dover Creek, and Upham Brook Watersheds in Henrico and Goochland Counties and the City of Richmond on February 29, 2024. The meeting is open to the public and any member of the public may participate in the proceedings. Meeting participants will assist in development of a cleanup study, also known as a Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL), to address benthic impairments on Deep Run, Dover Creek, Jordans Branch, North Run, Stony Run, Stony Run UT, and Upham Brook which have been listed on Virginia’s § 303(d) list of impaired waters for failing to meet Virginia’s water quality standards due to an altered benthic community. TMDLs will be developed for sediment and total phosphorus which were identified as probable contributors to the poor health of the stream segment. The meeting will discuss the pollutant source assessment and model development. Information about this TMDL study is located on the DEQ website at https://www.deq.virginia.gov/our-programs/water/water-quality/tmdl-development/tmdls-under-development. *In the event of inclement weather, the meeting will be held March 7, 2024, at the same time and location stated above.
