Having curriculum standards which explicitly outline what will be taught is best practice for any area of the curriculum. Making sure all our students have knowledge and skills in the areas of emotion regulation, resilience, awareness of others, acceptance of differences, and idea expression will only benefit them. These are skills that will make them better academic performers and more highly qualified for any job they choose. This is a step in the right direction towards making Virginia education one of the strongest in the nation and towards making Virginia students top tier future employees and leaders.
