I disagree with the requirement for continuing education. Of the courses I have taken, I have found no useful, applicable subject matter.
I feel that current engineers should be exempt. This requirement was not in place when I was registered and should not be required of me now. Also, with ongoing practice and advanced degree and ongoing self evaluation and self training as required, I feel this would be an unnecessary, unfair burden on me from a time and money standpoint.
Possibly the fact that many have a daily dose of current practice and ongoing business responsibilities would qualify us as able to judge for ourselves whether we need additional training and in what area. The last thing we need is another "big brother" telling us what to do and how to spend our time and money after what we have been throught to get where we are.
CE should only apply to new registrants so they can understand the requirements before persuing the certification and go into it with their eyes open and not blindsided after the fact with nonessential, worthless "continuing eduction" dictated by those who have little idea what information we need to conduct business and support our family. We are professional adults and can decide for our selves.
I hope these comments are being taken as seriously when read as they have been when written.
