I am adamantly opposed to the expanded duties for dental assistants.  I believe the current educational requirements for dental hygenists is entirely appropiate and NECESSARY to provide the required dental hygene we expect.  In no way should this change be allowed to happen - if its not "broke" don't fix it.  Only greedy dentists will benefit by this change - not the dental patient.
