I strongly oppose the scaling of teeth by anyone other than RDH's. I have seen so many periodontally involved patients who have had their DENTISTS cleaning their teeth and now they are the ones to train these assistants! Or if they are only scaling "above " the gumline , are they only charging the patients half price for half of the job being done! This is very wrong and the patients care will suffer greatly. Vote no on this proposal as it is a very bad idea. It opens a huge can of worms with regards to malpractice in a few years when these people would develope periodontally disease from not having the thorough scalings they thought that they were receiving.
