By removing some requirements regarding education of gifted students, I fear that more and more resources will flow to meeting the minimum requirements of No Child Left Behind. If public schools are allowed to ignore gifted students, the gifted students will go away. Parents who can afford private schools will increasingly choose to take their gifted children out of public schools. Parents who cannot afford private schools will risk seeing their gifted children underachieve and eventually drop out.
