Opinion on prop 4509

As a woman in Fairfax county and a mother to two girls, both female at birth and currently identify as female, I oppose. I oppose forced bathrooms on those who identify as a gender other than the birth-identified gender. As a nurse, there is clear evidence that forcing a gender on a person that identifies with a gender other than their birth-assigned, leads to significant risk to mental health and self-harm. Women’s bathrooms have stalls. Male-at-birth individuals that identify as female are not sexual predators. Moreover this time and energy could be best put to use aligning VA bathrooms with the model DC NPS have and have gender neutral. All stalls no threat.
