Oppose Action 4905

Please allow transgender girls to participate in sports. The tiny number of trans and intersex students participating in sports has never, in any study, shown any "overwhelming advantage." This idea also implies that cisgender girls are always physically inferior, which plays into sexist stereotypes. There are many strong and talented assigned girl at birth athletes. These bans also overlook the role that class and money play in access to training, which plays a more important role in competitive sports.

Also, pls note that initial research indicates that “participation among high school girls remained static from 2011 to 2019 in states with fully transgender-inclusive sports policies, whereas participation among girls in states with outright bans or trans-exclusive policies (combined) has decreased.” Which means that states that passed hostile laws against trans girls in sports saw an actual reduction in ALL girls playing school sports. Because adults bullying kids is frightening. Allow schools to navigate this individually and respectfully; these kids are all doing just fine when NOT being used as politicized tokens. Thank you.
