LRI

Having LRIs as paid caregivers has been a game-changer for our child, providing the consistency and security he needs in his care and routine. This has allowed us to protect his privacy and avoid the emotional strain of explaining his diagnosis to strangers, who may misunderstand or even belittle him or our family. We request that Objective Written Documentation be removed while continuing to allow LRIs as paid caregivers without the need to justify the challenges in hiring caregivers for low pay and no benefits. Respite care for unpaid LRIs would offer invaluable relief to families who manage to find temporary care but cannot secure full-time support for their loved ones with disabilities.
