I respectfully ask the Virginia Board of Dentistry to oppose allowing DA II to perform the scaling of teeth. As a practicing RDH for the past 33 years I find the proposed idea absurd. The complete care and health of a dental patient is first and foremost and placing them in the hands of uneducated non professionals is risky and borders on negligence. Dental hygienists provide an invaluable service to the citizens of this commonwealth and deserve the right to practice their profession to the fullest. We are college educated and Board certified and convey our knowlege and skills to each and every patient we treat each day.
