As an RDH I highly oppose the DAII scaling any pt much less the Class I pt. I hate the thoughts of an inexperienced DA scaling on pts that could easily be me or a family member much less a pt who most have no idea. Talk about possible tissue trauma! You know as well as I that curets are not toys to be tinkered with by a DA. I was once a DA and as that I would not be comfortable scaling BELOW the gumline with a sharp inst, especially with healthy tight tissue. What interdental papilla after that prophy! I can recall on the vigorous training and studying as an RDH that had to be completed, come on now we have more testing and boards to be passed than a nurse giving meds and injections all to be just passed on to the DA. Give me a break. As a RDH, I vote NO SUB SCALING FOR THE DAII thank you!
