Ok, so,
Im not in the dental profession but I am in the medical field. to me this is a no brainer on two counts.
ONE: All the time and money that hygienists spend to go to college and continue their training is going right down the tubes. We are talking about a group of individuals that have dedicated themselves to bettering our personal health. This proposal would lessen their importance by allowing individuals less qualifified and therefore ,in many cases less dedicated to preform the duties of our hygienists. How does this make sense?
TWO: I am a Firefighter/EMT and have been for a good number of years. MY experience here has led me to understand that training and experience beats all else. So lets look at it this way.IF your house were on fire and you had a choice of a qualified professional rushing to your aid or your, hmmm, oh say your hair dresser, who would you choose. I guess its the same as saying " I have no idea how to clean your teeth, but i did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. Makes a lot of sense huh. Hmmmmmm i think not
