Change regulations for llamas entering VA! [2 VAC 5-141]

As llama breeders we are in full support of the change in regulations, particularly the chapter regarding llamas and alpacas. The current regulations are a detriment to the llama and alpaca industry in the state of Virginia. We are dependent on having champion llamas from shows in order to get good prices for our farm produce. We also need several llamas in each show class to make the championship award really count to produce a high demand for our llamas. The high cost and added risk of testing to out-of-state owners has taken a high toll on our llama shows statewide. Llama show people have chosen instead to drive to bordering states to exhibit their animals. The associated show vendors, food providers, and all the support that goes with a big show follow the big shows. This has not only hurt Virginia shows and sales, but has also cost the state significant supplementary revenues (hotels, restaurants, fuel, etc.)  Please do not delay the passing of this new regulation.
