In support of the repeal of 2VAC5-140 and its replacement with 2 VAC 5-141

We support the repeal of 2VAC5-140, and replacement with 2VAC 5-141.

It is time for Virginia to align their regulations with surrounding states.  The current testing requirements are not only unncecessary and redundant when done multiple times a year, but also time and cost prohibitive for llama and alpaca owners who desire to bring animals into the state of Virginia.  The TB test alone requires two separate farm calls due to the requirement that the test site must be read by a licensed vet.  Additonal time and expense is incurred to obtain completed testing documentation from the lab.  Because the blood and TB tests are not required in surrounding states, nearby Maryland camelid owners often chose to avoid Virginia events.

Failure to repeal 2VAC5-140 will result in further revenue loss from show venues, hotels, restaurants, etc in Virginia.

We implore Virgina to support 2VAC 5-141.
