Excelsior College support

I would like to support the proposed regulatory amendment to the Virginia State Board of Nursing regarding the licensure of RN's graduating from Excelsior college. 2001 I completed my studies at Excelsior College in three years completed my clinical in GA on the first try with passing state boards in VA also on the first try. I owe my success and endurance to Excelsior college for the thorough preparation they prepared me for. This is not a easy program from no means when you self study you must obsorb all required material, research, and pass very stringant exams. As with traditional colleges you have the opportunity to retake test and quizes. Yes you can repeat Excelsior exams but only for a limited number of times. The exams cover a board spectum of material  requiring the student to be highly motivated and able to devote in depth studying to pass these exams. My degree from Excelsior College has enabled me to complete my Bachelor degree in Nursing I now work as a Shift Coordinator in a Hospital. Without the preparation from Excelsior I would not have been able to achieve my goal as becoming an RN, I was not able to go to a traditional school due to family obligations. Speaking as an alumni for Excelsior College I would truly like to see any and all students who are unable to attend a traditional program have the opportunity to take this path to complete this program as it has for myself thus ensuring needed competent RN's for the state of Virginia.
