I am aware that some believe that the appraisal process is what is slowing down the entire loan process, but the appraisal is the LAST item in the process used to determine if the lender will proceed or not. The inspections used in hybrid reports sometimes can take up to two weeks to get to the appraiser, slowing down the process even more. In most instances, the appraiser could have personally inspected the property and had the report turned in much sooner. The trained appraiser’s eye is being excluded in this process. This change may potentially have drastic effects in the near future. Personally, I am glad that retirement is very near.
