IV catheters are rarely placed without the administration of fluids, or medications immediately post insertion. Even a Heparin flush may be made or given incorrectly, and the wrong fluids cause harm. Perhaps it is proposed amendments, like this, that has so many LVTs giving up and leaving a PROFESSION that they love. LVTs must constantly defend and stand guard over the rights that they have earned by their education, and professional examination. If the problem is caused by a "lack of LVTs" then it would be responsibility of all to keep practicing LVTs practicing; and the numbers will rise. The constant battle to maintain our rights and responsibilities is insulting to the Licensed Technician profession.
