Dry needling as performed by a physical therapist (PT) is  not rooted in ancient chinese medicine?            

A doctor do deal with the patient nothing more than diagnosis and treatment .

1.PT diagnosis for trigger point by hand press diseases of body surface and mouth to ask the  patient feeling.This is same as acupuncturist diagnosis Ash point method .Don't what PT special instrument and method for positioning  trigger point more precise.Acupuncturist diagnosis Ash point  method is reproducible and feasible diagnosis point value  and PT use.

2.Treatment ,PT's tools  using the acupuncture needle ,why they don't use injection needle? Injection needle has hole and short that not easy to operation . The injection needle tip is not like acupuncture needle tip round sharp so easy to cause the patient feel pain and suffered.It is refused by patients.The PT's needle manipulation is same as acupuncturist.
