I am writing to voice my opposition to the recently passed regulations on Women's Health Care Centers in VA. These regulations are expensive, unnecessary requirements which in these difficult budget times will most certainly cause many cents which cannot afford to make these changes to close. Young, low-income, and unisured women and young couples especially in the rural areas will be denied affordable health care options sending them instead to much more expensive emergency rooms or even worse getting no health care at all likely resulting in long term medical needs in the future.
These regulations which are not based upon evidenced based medical practices are a lose-lose situation for the woment citizens of VA and VA taxpayers. Women need more access to affordable health care, not less.
I urge the Board of Health to amend these regulations to ones based solely on sound medical practices and to not deny women access to affordable health care and guidance regarding their reproductive legal rights.
