I would like to support the proposed regulatory amendment to the Virginia State Board of Nursing, regarding the licensure of RN's graduating from Excelsior College. I am presently in the Excelsior Nursing Program to obtain my RN degree. I've been an LPN for 19 years and have many years of experience, which prepared me for the program. In the past, I have attended a community college RN program, but working full-time and attending college full-time was really difficult. I am thankful Excelsior College is a distant learning college. This program enables me to further my education, while not having to purchase uniforms for college, and put wear and tear on my old car, needless to say the gas money and travel time. This type of nursing program is not for everyone, but at least it should be an option for everyone, and it should be recognized and accepted from State to State. Please accept graduates of the Excelsior College school of Nursing in Virginia. The school is excellent and the standards are high. Times are changing, and the convenience of a self-paced study program is an extremely important aspect when one is pursuing their career in today's world.
