Legally allowing non licensed veterinary technicians to place peripheral IV catheters does not lessen the worth of our licensed counterparts.  The legal duties of an LVT are far more vast than this small task. If the veterinarian trusts the non licenced technician to place an IV catheter, the law should not prevent this. There could even be a mid-level state regulated credential system in place for experienced non licensed technicians.
