These statues are constant reminders of racist beliefs, attitudes and inequities that sadly, are just as pervasive today.  We have a nationally recognized Arts Department at VCU as well as some fantastic Artists living in our community.  Imagine what they could create that would honor all of us!  The current monuments need to be removed.
