I OPPOSE SCALING PROCEDURES PERFORMED BY A DENTAL ASSISTANT II.
I am proud to be a registered dental hygienist for 10 years; I worked very hard for my degree, and there is no way that "hands on training" could in any way replace that which I and every other hygienist have worked to acheive. Treating patients goes beyond an action- patients need to be educated. The truth is that there is no way a dentist could train an assistant in weeks or months what takes a licensed professional +2 years to study for. By allowing this expanded duty of dental assistants, you are lowering the standard of care for the people/patients of the commonwealth.
Thank you. Brenna Snow
