I have been a Registered Dental Hygienist for 43 years, and I have five(5) state licenses(KY,MO, MD,TX, & VA.) and have worked for no less than 200 DDS's & DMD's ( did a lot of temporary) and I can tell you with no reservations that an unlicensed individual that will have unfettered access will be a legal liability to the dental profession and to the Board. Passage of this proposal will be suicide because, as you know all dentist are not created equal. I have worked for dentist who have said that,"no one ever died of calculus" : for too many who never did perio probings: and unfortunately for most who never preform a cancer screening. These are the basic "standards of care", and some dentist thinks that by saving a few dollars and not hiring a professional Registered Dental Hygienist his patients will be well served. I know they will not. We ,dental hygienist professional are not willing to "prostitute" our profession for money we are sorry that the dentistry professional is.
Sincerely,
