Our goal, as Dental Professionals, is the optimim care of our patient.  If the Dental Assistant II  is allowed to scale, I believe the care, health, and safety of the patient will be jepordized.  I believe the detection of periodontal disease will be missed andt hat sub-gingival calculus will be left to create  a greater problem.  I feel that the patient will, simply, be short-changed.  I  also feel it borders on dental negligence and  insurance fraud.  I certainly don't want my family to go in for their 6 month recall and have them treated by a DA II when they are expecting to be seen by a Registered Dental Hygienist---or to be charged as if they were being seen by a REAL Hygienist.
