As a licensed dental hygienist in Virginia, and a member of VDHA, I oppose allowing Dental Assistant II the delegated duties of scaling. Only dental hygienists have recieved the proper didactic and clinical training for scaling supragingival and subgingival calculus. This is very clearly a patient safety issue.
