Who determines the patient classification? If the dentist does this procedure, how does that save time? The RDH is the dental professional who is best educated and clinically trained to do this. What happens when a patient changes classification? Is that patient rescheduled for a more thorough evaluation and treatment? More importantly, would the DAII recognize the change? This becomes a public health and safety issue. Comprehensive care is what the citizens of Virginia deserve. Insurance fraud and law suites will surely follow when the public recognizes the standard of care has diminished. Unintended consequences happen when ideas are not fully vetted. Be careful how this is voted.
