As a registered dental hygienist, I strongly oppose allowing a DAII to perform scaling of a patient's teeth. After two years of extensive training, I disagree with allowing someone without the education of a dental hygienist to perform this service. The service and knowledge of a dental cannot be replaced by a DAII, and it is not in the best interest of a patient to allow this.
