As a current student in the VCU dental hygiene program I strongly oppose this notion of allowing DA II to scale supra or subgingivally. I do not think that the patient's best interest is being considered if this is allowed. DA will not have enough training to allow them to scale without causing tissue trama. I believe that some dentist are agreeing with this notion to lower payroll cost which is not considering the patients best interest.
