Scaling is the essential skill taught to all RDH's and therefore, it risks public safety to provide this highly specific skill to a training course for dental assistants.  The dental assistant would not have the knowledge of collateral courses and information to be able to perform this skill correctly.  The dental assistant is not subject to a state approved board on this skill.  It is an integral part of a complete RDH education and should not be taken out of that context.
