As a patient I do not wish nor do I want a dental  assistant scaling my teeth! This is wrong. where does the formal education come from? I am  a licensed nurse in the state of Virginia and I would shutter to think that some one with on the job training would be allowed to carry out the same tasks that I do with no formal training and knowledge of human anatomy.
