Dental Assistant II Proposition

I Don't believe it could get any clearer than the postings I just finished reading concerning NO to allowing dental assistants to scale patients teeth.  Please consider all the hygienists who are the experts in this field, their comments and concerns for the patients safety and quality of care.  I agree with them and the Dentists who support the ban on scaling 100%.  I can guarantee you that all the Dr's who support this change to allow DA's to scale, care primarily about their wallets and NOT the quality of care for the patients.  This may seem to be a harsh statement, but I have seen many, many patients over the past several years who have been cleaned every 6 months by an assistant, and under the Direct Supervision of a DDS. in the military and are a complete bloody mess, chunks of visible subgingival calculus on x-rays and direct perio. involment.  UNBELIEVABLE. The same Dentists who are pushing for this measure would be supervising their assistants.  With all due respect, most Dentist have not scaled a tooth since dental school and than it was a couple of days of training!  Please, don't do this to the uninformed public who trusts us for their care!
