Before I went to hygiene school I thought that it was silly that I had to go to school to simply 'learn to scale.'  Now that I have been through hygiene school I know that being a hygienist is much more then simply scaling (whatever amount of calculous).  There are many situations, even with those who are in the class I perio category, who would greatly benefit from the knowledge and skills that properly trained hygienists have to offer.  

Please do not lower the standard of care.
