Children need access to loose parts and recycled materials. Just like new packaged toys and such, recycled materials can easily be made safe and clean for children to use. Using recycled materials offers opportunities other materials cannot and is an effective way to offer rich curriculum, while also repurposing in our environment. The language in the updated guidance should include, "Clean and safe recycled materials may be used for play."
