| Purpose of the meeting This meeting is one of four public hearings that the Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB) will hold to solicit public comments about essential rail, transit, transportation demand management, bicycle, pedestrian and highway projects in the Working Draft of the Fiscal Year 2011-2016 Six-Year Improvement Program (SYIP) to be approved by the CTB in June 2010. All projects in the SYIP that are eligible for federal funding will be included in the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program, which documents how Virginia will obligate its share of federal funds. An open house will be held for elected public officials starting at 6 pm, with the public meeting starting at 7 pm. Lists of specific projects and changes from the current program will be available at the public hearings and on VDOT’s website at www.VirginiaDOT.org prior to the hearing.
